How to Install Your Stainless Toe Kick

Congratulations! Your stainless toe kick has arrived in the mail and now you are ready to begin installing the toe kick. Installation is quick and easy.

STEP 1:  Remove the protective film

When you receive your stainless steel toe kick and corners, they’ll be covered with a layer of protective film, made of PVC plastic. Just before installation, peel away the plastic.

STEP 2:  Select your adhesive

PL Adhesive, or Silicone Adhesive is a good option, and you can apply this adhesive with a caulking gun. This adhesive takes 24 hours to cure, so also have some blue painter’s tape on hand that can hold the toe kick firmly onto your cabinets while it dries.

However, our favorite method here at Stainlesstoekick.com is to use permanent high-bond tape adhesive. Scotch extreme bond 2-sided tape or 3M’s VHV tape are permanent, quick and easy to work with.

STEP 3:  Apply the adhesive to the length of toe kick

If using liquid PL or silicone adhesive, apply just enough to cover the back of the toe kick, and not enough to make a mess.

If using high-bond tape, apply two rows of tape per piece.

STEP 4:  Place the toe kick lengths carefully into position and press firmly.

Start at your most visible edge, such as the outside of where the cabinet meets the wall, as if you have any small gap in the toe kick it will be covered by the corner angles. 

STEP 5:  Apply the adhesive to the stainless toe kick corners and press firmly into position.

Secure with painter’s tape if you are using liquid adhesive. In 24 hours, remove the painter’s tape (if used) and if needed, clean the toe kick with glass cleaner and a soft cloth.

STEP 6:  You’re done!
